In order to make quality education affordable for the poor families MATI Cooperative started it’s fist free school at MATI Cooperative eco-village at Huzurikanda.

The students at the school are getting many facilities besides education. The children coming from the poor families suffer from severe malnutrition because their family can’t afford nutritional food for them. Many of the children come to school without breakfast or very poor breakfast for whom it is difficult to concentrate well in their lessons throughout the school periods.

Especially during the hot and humid summers, children often faint out of weakness. Therefore, from the beginning, MATI Cooperative started it’s School Lunch Program. All students are provided with healthy lunch every day to improve their nutrition status. Moreover, the students enjoy the lunch that helps to increase their school attendance as well as helps to concentrate to their study.
